The Edmonton & Area 567 club July general meeting Minutes
7 p.m @ The Drillers lounge, Nisku Ab.
July 6/2016 13 members
Minutes
from June meeting were read by Club Prez. Roy M. & were accepted by all
members present.
SPECIAL
Presentations:
Steve
Frim from a company named “Geo Blast” appeared with info on a new way to
“Blast” away your project or parts. They use a new process called “Wet
Blasting” and are located in Nisku,AB. This new idea has amazing results, with
half the problems from sand blasting & half the costs.. His presentation
was very informative, to say the least.
Cory
Kincaid from Central Alberta Raceway also appeared and made a brief
presentation on the “new Kid on the Block” race facility.. It is operated by a
non-profit group and is based on volunteer assistance. Presently they have a
1/8 mile dragstrip and are working to increase it to a full ¼ mile strip. There
is a oval dirt track and dirt bike track as well.. Sept.10 is a big date for
them, as they host a Funny Car event & the Club is invited. It looks like a
club cruise could be in the works…
The
treasurer’s report was given & as was noted last month, we are looking good. All members accepted Jim’s report. The club bought 10 folding chairs and 2
10X10 folding canopies.. The club’s yearly insurance will have to be renewed in
August, and an increase on the yearly policy cost is likely.
Bowties
vs the World update: August 27/2016
All
areas of the event are progressing smoothly & are in place. The voting
ballots are printed, all sponsorships have been accepted, the awards are being
currently produced. Hand outs for the Canadian Tire cashiers are also being
printed (they will hand out these 1 week before the event). We still need door
prizes and TWO more quality items for the silent auction. Plans are in place to
Invite all Edmonton Area Car clubs to our Show n Shine. Vendors are always
welcomed too! Jim will have a pre-event BBQ for all members at his place a few
days before the event date. Canadian Tire has given us a two year window on
this event & if all is ok with them, then the Head Corporation will come on
board for future shows.
Fellow
member Bernie M. also picked up a Gas pump handle at a Garage sale for the next
year’s event.. We could use 3 more for upcoming show N shines, so keep your
“eyes" open for these items.. Just to let you know, we use these for the “Long
Distance” award each year at our event.. Our past supplier has stopped
supporting us.
