The Edmonton & Area 567 Club June meeting Minutes

Roy M. was absent due to flu bug & Shawn G. absent also, this meant the next inline on the Executive was Jim. K to preside over the meeting.
The minutes from the May meeting were read & accepted by all present.
The treasurer’s report was given & the club account is “healthy” & the budget for the Show n shine is nearing the top. The report was accepted by all present.
Bowties vs the World update:
Keith G. reported that P-Cann will supply us with the Port-A-potties @ a cost of $271.00 (2) for the event. This was the best of 3 prices that he received.. The P-Cann price was accepted by all present. Morning delivery & evening p/u.
Ken, our D.J in the past, has been notified on the venue change and the date, he will return this year.
The search for a “gas pump handle” has ended, Dougie J. has found one.. Castrol Raceway has donated their old “gas pump handle” to us for this year’s long distance award. Thanks go out to Dougie and the nice folks at Castrol Raceway !!
Jim held a update meeting with the folks at Canadian Tire, just to go over everything and if they had any issues. All is good!
The event Posters and flyers will be ready for disbursement at the July monthly meeting.. The cashiers at Canadian Tire will pass out the event flyers to all customers about 10 days before the show n shine.
We will have signage up on the Fort Road area to promote the event.
The Ballot sheets will be perforated for easy `tear off`` & each award is color coded to aid those who have a vision issue..
The idea of food vendors was brought forward and Franks Hot dogs who have a booth Canadian tire will be open for breakfast and the possibility of a youth group holding a BBQ at the event is ongoing.
The Century casino has a restaurant which has a healthy menu and is located next door. Jim K. to check with Century Casino on our out of town entrants to have a place to stay & possible special rates.
The Great Root Bear from A&W will be there for the kids & the show area has approx. 285 stalls plus ample grassy areas for overflow..
Website updates:
Website visits for May were 1687 & the most popular pages were Kellen K`s Rocky Mountain National drag race video & the monthly meeting. The website also recognized the Fort McMurray situation and wished them well. Website will post a Event Poster when it is ready.
Reynolds museum tour was `cool`, we had a very nice tour guide, her name was Kerrie.. Two of the club members (Armand & Clayton) took the Bi-plane ride.. Some of the info that we were given at the Resto Shop was very Interesting.. For those who attended, it was great! You can see some of the tour “pics” on our website
Jim K. met with the manager at a pub near NAIT on their concept of holding a cruise night or a show n shine involving all the strip mall tenants.. There will be more to come as they make their plans..
The club members have been invited to many events so far, They are as follows: Morinville Show n Shine on June 25th with Reg.$15.00, Daysland Canada Day event on July 1st, KMS tools Show n Shine on July 9, Reg $15.00, Drayton Valley Show n Shine on July 17 with
Reg.$20.00, Canterbury Seniors 50`s days Aug 12 & Edmonton Youth day on Aug.13 at the Castledowns Rec center..
Don C. offered up a Big Thank-you to Shawn G. Becky C & Laurie C. for their hard work at the Kingpins Car club Show n Shine & swap meet. Our members always show the `good Stuff``..
